Julia Michaels unveils a much relatable journey of body insecurities and self-love that we all go through at some point of life, or every day, in her brand new vulnerable music video for ‘Body’, released on Wednesday, August 7.
For learning self-love, Julia has released an intimate new video for “Body” where the renowned singer-songwriter is shown removing a bunch of layers of clothing, piece by piece, as the video progresses and by the end, she’s stripped.
In her recent chat with Teen Vogue, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Julia opened up about the song and inspiration behind her latest offering, the music video for “Body”.
“In the video for ‘Body,’ I came up with the idea to start in a bunch of layers, and by the end I’m completely stripped. The second verse of the song is me talking about how I cover-up. I wear big, oversized sweatshirts so that I can cover my body. I do all these things to make me feel more comfortable in my own skin, but really it’s making me more uncomfortable when I take it off because I’m constantly masking myself. I wanted to show people how I am versus how I could be.”
The lyrics from ‘Body’ feel so relatable when Julia starts singing in a vulnerable tune from her own experiences with learning to love herself., “I just wanna love my body like you love my body/I wanna look in the mirror and tell it that it’s beautiful like you do”. “Learning to love my body is a constant journey and I know that I’m not always going to feel amazing. That’s just life. I think everybody has insecurities about their body. I’ll be getting ready and I’ll wear something and nothing feels right, and then I end up not going because I’m so self-conscious.”, Julia says.
‘Body’ is taken from Julia’s latest EP titled “Inner Monologue Part 2” Previously, she released another track “Okay” in collaboration with LANY.
