EP Review: Bronnie - Social Rejex

June 2024 · 3 minute read

Last week, Bronnie announced the release of her debut EP, titled “Social Rejex”. It became available to pre-order as soon as it was announced and it sailed like an alien spaceship right into the best-selling pre-orders in the UK. It continued its success when it was officially released on 5 May 2017, managing to alienate its way onto the top 50 of the UK iTunes Album Chart, and the top 5 of the UK iTunes Rock Chart.

The EP contains four tracks, one of which was an instant grat single upon the pre-order of the EP. We previously reviewed “High School Sucks (Live Acoustic)” back when the EP was announced. The tracks on the EP are as follows:

All the songs have been heard extensively by fans at concerts, who have all been waiting for official releases of these songs. The first track is influenced heavily by rock, with Bronnie’s vocals sounding on form throughout. It’s an uplifting track, with Bronnie inspiring people all around the world.

Seeing “High School Sucks” on the EP is not a surprise at all; what is, though, is that it’s a remastered version. Coming in two seconds shorter than the original single release, the song is slightly more updated, with the backing track fine-tuned to perfection, when compared. The song is one of our favourites with Bronnie totally bringing it throughout.

Our favourite track, without a doubt, is “Imaginary Friend”. This song is very personal to Bronnie and is definitely a fan favourite at all her gigs. It’s a complete emotional ballad from start to finish, with Bronnie hitting home throughout. She impresses with her vocals making us feel every single word. This just proves her versatility, and her ability to capture our hearts with her lyrics, voice, and passion.

The final track ends this EP perfectly really putting the spotlight on Bronnie’s vocals, much like “Imaginary Friend” did. Don’t forget to read all our thoughts on this track in the announcement article for this EP.

Bronnie also released a video titled “The Making of Social Rejex”. The video covers her time at Edge Recording Studio whilst making the first track on the EP, which is also the title track, “Social Rejex”.

We hope she releases more videos so we can see how the EP came together. She is currently on the Alstar Music EP Tour, which has one more date left to go, which is Edinburgh on 13 May 2017. Afterwards, Bronnie is set to perform at Tranmere Rovers Stadium for Wirral Live on 21 May 2017. Little Mix will be headlining with special guest Conor Maynard, as well as Bronnie. She exclusively talked to CelebMix about extensively touring.
