The WBBL finals series is starting to take shape, with the dates locked in for the three post-season matches that will decide this year’s winner.

This will be the third year in a row the finals format has stayed the same, with the top four teams all qualifying and the minor premiers advancing straight through to the decider on December 2.

“The Eliminator” on November 28 pits the third-placed team against the side that finished fourth, with the winner advancing to “The Challenger” hosted by the team that came second.

All three of those matches will be played in prime time, although Cricket Australia has yet to confirm exactly when they will start.

The two Sydney teams will host matches at North Sydney Oval if they finish high enough, the Scorchers will play at the WACA if they earn the right, the Brisbane Heat will host games at Allan Border Field depending on the ladder, while the Adelaide Strikers will play at Karen Rolton Oval for the qualifiers and host the final at the Adelaide Oval if they finish on top.

“The Weber WBBL|09 Finals series promises to deliver some outstanding cricket and we look forward to seeing who emerges as this season’s champions,” Big Bash Leagues general manager Alistair Dobson said.

“The final will again be held on a Saturday which has proven to be a fan favourite timeslot in previous years, and with The Eliminator and The Challenger also in prime time, fans from across the country will be able to tune in to the action.

“It’s been a brilliant start to WBBL|09 and we look forward to the action heating up as the race to the finals intensifies.”

Tickets for the finals go on sale on November 27, with Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane all on 14 points with four rounds remaining, one clear of the Thunder who have lost their past two matches.
